Frequently Asked Questions
Find the answers to often-asked questions related to building a custom home with Reel Homes. How long does the process take?
Depending on the home plan selected, the construction process from issue date of building permit typically takes 8 months when building a home through Reel Homes.
What is the benefit of getting a home built in 8 months vs. the industry-standard 12 months?
It can save you thousands upon thousands of dollars! Based on the amount of your construction loan, if we are able to save you 4 months of financing, it could mean savings of thousands upon thousands of dollars. Obviously, the greater the amount of your construction loan, the more you will save on financing costs.
How does Reel Homes complete construction typically in 8 months when most other builders utilize a 12 month timeframe?
Efficiency. We are in control of the complete process through our lump sum pricing. We do not have to worry if a contractor does not show up because you (the owner) did not schedule properly. When you (the owner) take responsibility of the site work, we cannot offer this 8 month guarantee.
Why is your standard feature list and pricing not online?
The answer is that every job is different and every home is different. When we price things out as a lump sum, we need to see the lot and go over your options, then we can give you a FIRM number. Others that give you an idea on how much things will cost are not worried about it because if it goes over that number the problem is yours. We don’t do that to our customers. You will get a detailed specification sheet with all materials and your specific pricing for the home you want on the lot that you are building on.
Do you have a model home?
No, we do not. There is no need for us to have one since every one of our past clients welcome us bringing prospective customers to their homes and using their homes as models.
I really like one of your floor plans, but I don't like the front elevations of the home that are shown. Do I have any options?
Yes, we make plan modifications at no charge. For instance, if you like the James model but like the Erie model front elevation, we can put the Erie front elevation on the James model. This goes for most of our floor plans (obviously some might not work). We can also design a different front elevation based on your needs. We have taken homes and designed custom elevations based on pictures of Craftsman style homes, traditional and colonial. The possibilities are endless.Do I have access to my house during construction?
Yes. You are hiring us as your builder and we are building on your property.
Why would you not have access?
Be afraid of anyone that does not want you in the house. To us it is simple; we have nothing to hide and we are proud of our work. There are obviously times when it might be dangerous to go in the home, so we simply ask you to inform us of when you want to go by and we will let you know when it is safe.
Can you help me find a lot to build on?
Absolutely! We do it all the time. All we need are some zip codes and/ or areas that you are targeting.
Any other questions?
Simply and we will respond to your request shortly.
